Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee in its press release states that National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken serious note on negligence of Director General of Police Andhra Pradesh in submitting the report on highly suspicious Death of Abdul Razaq Masood who was accused in terror charges. Police has claimed that it is a case of suicide. It should be noted that CLMC conducted a fact finding on this incident and declared that it was more than a suicide and demanded a free and fair inquiry.

On the basis of CLMC fact finding report NHRC has intervened and registered a case by treating it is a serious matter and issued a notice to the Director General of Police. NHRC has ordered DGP to submit a detail report on suspicious death of Abdul Razaq Masood and earlier posted the matter for hearing on 1st January 2013.

But Andhra Pradesh police failed to act as per the direction of NHRC.and didn’t submitted any report to the commission. On this negligence NHRC issued another serious notice to the DGP of A.P by stating that the desired report has not been received from the concerned authority. “The Commission views the matter seriously” commission has passed the order and reminded to the DGP, Andhra Pradesh to send the report within two months positively on the complaint of Lateef Mohd Khan dated 25.10.2012.

Commission in its order asked DGP “that the additional/complete report as directed by the commission in the matter be sent latest by 05/03/2013, for further consideration by the commission.”

CLMC states that DGP by not submitting report to the NHRC on its earlier direction has committed grave negligence. It also manifests the attitude of law enforcement agencies towards highest human rights commission in the nation.

CLMC believes that DGP by not acting on the directions of NHRC has proven that there is something suspicious in the death of Abdul Razzaq Massod. CLMC demand police authority to change their laxity attitude towards human rights groups and commissions, CLMC also demands free and fair enquiry into the suspicious death of Abdul Razzaq Massod, and to provide justice to the family of Massod.
