Condemn the Attack on Police Picket

Warn against any Encounter Killing

Demand of Fair and Free Investigation

Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee strongly condemns the attack on the police picket by the unidentified entity at Shah Ali Banda area of Hyderabad. It is a matter of wonder that culprits have done this kind of inhuman act at the time when the city is under red alert and high alert since one month; Police check ups are going on in every nook and corner on every motor cyclist, because of which people have stopped coming out of their homes. This committee believes that it is a greater conspiracy to defame a particular community and to divert the people’s attention on the anniversary of Macca Masjid blast, because every year this is happening near by the area of this place. It is also because of this incident that Muslims are neither in a position to conduct a protest meeting nor to pay their tribute to the Martyrs of Macca Masjid blast victims and subsequent police firing victims. Police or media should not jump on any conclusion on this firing incident; it should be investigated by keeping in view every possible angle. If this is not done in the above manner, then it would be like repeating the mistake that was done immediately after the Macca Masjid blast. There are many doubts rising about the arrest of a Muslim youth named Ziaul Haq by labeling him as a terrorist suspect and on the announcement that he is planning to carry out terror attack in the city. This committee believes that he might become the scapegoat of police red alert.

This committee strongly suspects that police might kill any Muslim youth in the name of encounter to hide their incapability. This committee warns the police that any kind of such killing on the name of encounter will not be tolerated and the situation may become worse. We demand to investigate the case honestly and unbiased. This committee expresses grief and sorrow on the death of constable U.Ramesh and solidarity with his family members.

Quote of the Day
Women are supposed to be very calm generally: but women feel just as men feel...they suffer from too rigid a restraint, too absolute a stagnation, precisely as men would suffer...It is thoughtless to condemn them, or laugh at them, if they seek to do more or learn more than custom has pronounced necessary for their sex.

Charlotte Bronte
(1816-1855)
