Babri Masjid demolition is a BLOT on Indian Secularism and Democracy

Demand to rebuilt the Babri Masjid at the same site

Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee in its press statement stated that even after 20 years of its demolition, Babri Masjid’s criminals are free. The government instead of solving the problem has complicated the matter. In the case of Babri Masjid the court has given importance to the hegemony of Hindutva faith. With this it can be understood that the country is still a weak secular and democratic state. Even after 20 years, the non construction of Babri Masjid is the proof that the status of Indian secularism and democracy is degrading and it is against the standard of justice. In fact, secularism is being used as a veil in India, and behind this veil is the ugly and fearful face of Hindutva.

On the occasion of 20 years of Babri Masjid demolition, Civil Liberties want to make it clear that this double standard and injustice indicates the dark future of India. Babri Masjid is in fact the identity of Indian Muslims. To establish their supremacy, the Hindutva forces do not want the Indians Muslims to live with their identity in India. Because of which, continuous attacks take place on Muslims and the demolition of Babri Masjid is a part of it. In the year 1949, the Hindutva forces tried to convert the Masjid into a Mandir. Rajiv Gandhi was the person responsible to open the locks and perform shilanyas (stone laying foundation). Former Congress MP Banwarilal Purohit claimed that, “As per the secret agreement, late Rajiv Gandhi was to allow the 'shilanyas' in Ayodhya and in return, the RSS was to extend support to the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections that were due that year”.

L.K.Advani who belongs to RSS gang, in the form of merchant of death, collected people at Ayodhya through Rath Yatra, from all over the country. The then Prime Minister provided logistic support to demolish Babri Masjid. The then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Kalyan Singh under his supervision allowed placing explosives inside the Babri Masjid. Whereas, the great Indian democracy, parliament and Judiciary became mute spectators. In this way, all these people are the criminals of Babri Masjid. Definitely Babri Masjid is chasing its criminals. It is decided that whoever is involved in the demolition of Babri Masjid will meet humiliating end as they have committed grave crime against humanity.

Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee also wants to clear that, Muslims are also responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid. They cannot escape from their responsibilities by giving reference of their oppress ness. From the day one Muslim leaders were not sincere in the case of Babri Masjid. Negligence was shown in restoring the Masjid for prayers. Even after the demolition, the case was not properly dealt with. For this the Muslim religious and political leadership is responsible and also are answerable for their criminal negligence.

For common Muslims, Babri Masjid is their identity and they are emotionally attached with it. But they are helpless. They had great hopes from the judiciary but it also betrayed them. In fact, the judiciary has given importance to majority faith instead of rule of law, in the matter of judgment on Babri Masjid. Now the matter is before the Supreme Court and this is a test for the Supreme Court’s standard of justice. There is a need for the Supreme Court judges to apply their minds and give the judgment as per the constitution of India and rule of law. It should also be kept in mind that ‘justice delayed is justice denied’.

Civil Liberties observe that 20 years of demolition of Babri Masjid is a big question mark on Indian Judiciary and a blot on Indian democracy and secularism! If at all the judiciary has to restore the standard of justice and remove the blot on Indian secularism, then Babri Masjid should be re-built at the same site.

Quote of the Day
Women are supposed to be very calm generally: but women feel just as men feel...they suffer from too rigid a restraint, too absolute a stagnation, precisely as men would suffer...It is thoughtless to condemn them, or laugh at them, if they seek to do more or learn more than custom has pronounced necessary for their sex.
