PRESS RELEASE

A memorandum to President of India

Demolition of Babri Masjid is the attack on the identity of Muslims

Demand to rebuild the Babri Masjid at the same site and restore the supremacy of Indian Constitution

Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee has sent a memorandum to the President of India on the occasion of 24th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition and demands to fulfill his responsibility to re-construct the Babri Masjid at the same site because as President of India, he is the custodian of basic structure of Indian Constitution. In the memorandum it is said that in the year 1992 the demolition of Babri Masjid was nothing but an attack on the constitution of India and was demolished with a planned conspiracy. Still there is time to re-build Babri Masjid for the wellbeing of the country, to bring the culprits under justice and restore the Indian Constitution so that the people’s confidence on Indian government is reinstated.

On this occasion, it is important to remind that demolition of Babri Masjid was not just demolition of a place of prayer but in fact an attack on the identity of Muslims and was also a conspiracy to obliterate their identity. It was also to let the Muslims know that they are not safe and are second class citizens in this country. With this act of Hindutva terrorists, the emotions of secular people especially of Muslims are deeply hurt. It is to say with profound grief that till now no action has been taken to reinstate the hurting sentiments of Muslims and to restore the supremacy of Indian constitution.

Even after 24 years of Babri Masjid demolition, the Indian government and Judiciary are reluctant in restoring peace and justice. In fact, on this occasion it can also be said that the Indian Judiciary has failed to fulfill its responsibility to provide justice and has become silent spectator, because of which fascism is on its peak level in the country. Even the Indian Parliament is dominated by fascist forces due to which disturbance and upheaval is increasing in the country. There is only one way to come out of this grave situation that the country is facing i.e. Hindutva terrorists those who are responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid should be punished, Babri Masjid should be re-built at the same site and the supremacy  of Indian constitution be restored.

It is also written to the President of India that this memorandum is sent to you with a hope that you will strive to protect the Indian democracy and secularism and also clean the blot on humanity that was inflicted by the politicians and judiciary in the year 1992. If you ignore your responsibilities due to the political compulsions, history will not excuse you instead your name also will be written with black letters in the Indian history.
